Cross Table Row Properties
If you select any part of the Row header area before clicking on the command <View> <Properties> or on the corresponding icon , the following dialog box will appear:
In the above dialog box the Alias represent the field name used in the row area for that level or the Group level if it has been defined (example Year, Quarter, Month etc.).
The Site information display by default Rows but you can switch to Columns or None.
The Sub total option is set to No by default but if you change it to Yes, you will get the sub total for the previous level displayed on the current level. The current level must be itself a sub level. That option cannot apply to a level having no sub-levels. In the following example, the sub total is set to "No" for the row level Quarter and Month:
If you change that option to "Yes", a Year sub total will be displayed under all the Quarter levels for each year as you can see in the following example:
If we ask now for the same option Sub total = Yes for the Month level, we will get a Quarter sub total displayed after each quarter on the Month level row, as you can see in the following example:
Show item with no data: the default value is No. The cross table result will only display the levels having a data to be displayed. If you set that option to Yes, the cross table result will also display the levels having no data to be displayed. For example if the quarter level is activated for a date field and if you have no value for the Quarter #2, the cross table will display only Quarter1, Quarter3 and Quarter4 if that option is set to No, but will display the four Quarter levels if that option is set to Yes, even if the Quarter2 level is empty.
In the following example set with "Show item with no data defined to No", the query criteria has been defined in order to retrieve only data for second half year for both 1999 and 2000:
As you can see in the above picture, there are no data for Quarter 1 and Quarter 2, and in the Quarter 3 the August month is missing because there are no data for that month in the source database.
If you change now that option to Yes in the Properties dialog box, all the Quarters will be displayed even if there are no data to be displayed: Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 are now visible, and the August month appears in the Quarter 3:
The Format option is not defined by default but you can change it to specify the format according to the field type or enter a customized format, for example #,### for a numeric value to get a comma separator for the thousand or enter a specific date format.
The Decimal option (for a numeric field) is set by default to Auto, but you can ask for a specific number of decimal.
