Criteria as Value

The "Value" tab allows you to specify directly a value to be used with the chosen operator for the concerned field.

That value can be entered manually or automatically using the right button. That button proposes to browse the existing values making a query to the host database. That action may take a long time, depending on the table source size. A message asks you to confirm.

From Version 5.00 onwards this button also enables users to automatically create a parameter which displays the available values when the query is run. For example, if the field name is COUNTRY then a string type P_Country parameter will be created to offer the list of distinct countries found in the same table, with an extended selection by default. It is then possible to modify this parameter’s options (mandatory or not, modifiable or not, default value, All, Single, Multiple or Extended selection and even modify the sub-query which feeds this list if necessary).

If the criteria applies to a date or date time field, a Calendar is also proposed to select a date with the mouse instead of enter it manually.
