Parameters command (Edit Menu)

Use this command to define the global parameters for the whole project. The advantage of this is that you can create and modify the global parameters in one place and use them in all the queries, reports, cross-tables and cubes.

For example, when you need to use a parameter in a query, you only need to create a new parameter in the query and the list of parameters in the project will automatically appear in the Parameter Name capture area in a drop-down list.

Select the parameter you want if it already exists in the parameters of a project, or otherwise create a specific parameter for the query if the parameter is not part of the global parameters.

If the parameter selected is a global parameter, the information concerned will be shaded because it cannot be modified from the query but only from the Project Parameters dialog box.
